Last CoderDojo session this year!
Here are the activities that each group will be working on today:
Newcomers
If you are new to CoderDojo and new to computer programming this is where you start:
Scratch – Guided
Final Scratch Project of 2016
We’ll spend the first half of today’s session putting the finishing touches on your projects for the show and tell and then you’ll get a chance to show it to everyone and tell us how it works.
Scratch – Freeform
Show and tell
This is our last CoderDojo session this year and we will do a show and tell. Time to finish off your card games and have them ready for the show and tell. If you have not made much progress on your card game you can pick another project that you have been working on and get it completed or make it better and show that at the show and tell instead.
Learn JavaScript
Show and tell
Today is our last CoderDojo session this year and we will do a show and tell. Your goal today is to put the finishing touches on the project you are doing for the show and tell.
In Khan Academy you can make your own JavaScript programs using the Khan Academy JavaScript programming environment. To do this just go to the main Computer Programming page and under the ‘Create a new program’ heading click on the button New JavaScript Program. You can make a simple animation or artwork or game or calculator or whatever you want. To get some ideas of what is possible see: https://www.khanacademy.org/computing/computer-programming/browse
Raspberry Pi (with Microcontrollers and other cool stuff)
A collaborative group exploring how computers can interact with the outside world through a range of sensors and controllers. Primarily we’ll be using the Raspberry Pi (http://raspberrypi.org) computer in conjunction with Arduinos (http://arduino.cc) and along the way we’ll learn about Python, C and C++ programming, digital and analogue electronics and about working together.
