Introduction to Robotics session information
During those sessions, we will explore and experiment with basic robotics. Each week we’ll program the robot using different sensors and add-ons to build the robots abilities with ultrasonic sensors, line follower, light sensor, LED, buzzer and so on.
We are using robotics kits – mBot by Makeblock in teams of two to three participants. The mBots are supplied during the sessions and for the duration of the program.
“mBots are fully programmable using mBlock which combine Scratch programming (with some additional blocks) and the Arduino microcontroller coding language. They neatly bridge the gap between Scratch, Robotics and the huge world of the Arduino microcontroller.” – Hamish Trolove
For those who can bring their own laptop (preferred) or tablet – it will be necessary to download the mBlock software from http://www.mblock.cc/download/ along the IDE Arduino from https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software . One device per team is enough.
Finally, an intermediate/ advanced scratch level is recommended.
